Sweet Baby Owen’s Newborn Session

Happy Friday friends! I’m going to do my best to give this blog post the justice and magnitude it deserves…bear with me.

Our friends Tyler & Kayla have been a huge part of our life for many, many years. They were some of the very first friends who allowed me to test the waters of photography with them as my guinea pigs and they’ve been encouraging throughout the entire life of our business. When we told them I was pregnant they were ecstatic. On the day Davis was born, Tyler was at the hospital filming our family & friends as they anxiously waited to hear the news that Baby W had been born… and he was there when Dusty shared the exciting news that ‘Baby W’ was a precious baby boy named Davis. He put together the most incredible video from that day. We owe him big time for that. I’ll never forget as Kayla held Davis for the first time, watching her with tears streaming down her face. She was so happy for us, yet, she was so ready for a baby of her own. Our friends went through some rough times to get there but eventually we got the call that they were finally pregnant. And we were the ones crying. If you could hand pick two people to be parents…people who would love and care for a baby with their entire being…it’s Tyler & Kayla.

Fast forward…. I had just finished preparing some things for the shower we were hosting them the next day and we got a call from Tyler. We could tell immediately he was panicked and wanted to get us the information quick. Kayla had been experiencing some strange symptoms during the day and long story short…. Owen was going to be born 9 weeks early. It was a very scary time for them, their family and all of the friends who were anxiously waiting for updates. Kayla & baby Owen were ok but it was going to be a long road. He was born weighing 3 lbs. 14oz. and had a head full of dark hair. Miracles happened that night and continue to happen all around Tyler, Kayla and Sweet baby O.

After a few weeks they were up against another shock as Owen was diagnosed with a very rare genetic disorder called LCHAD. They certainly have a battle ahead of them to figure out exactly what Owen’s little body needs and can handle but Tyler & Kayla are doing everything they can for this little guy. Owen is a fighter that’s for sure…and so are his parents. They spent 39 days in the hospital. I’m here to tell you they had an army of people praying for them and they were able to bring Owen home 2 days before Christmas. Talk about a Christmas mircale! 🙂

The journey continues for these 3 and it certainly hasn’t been easy but Tyler & Kayla are walking through this with such grace. It just amazes me. Their focus and commitment to Owen is so amazing to see.

We had already planned on doing newborn pictures of this little man…which was going to be an honor in the first place. And then they bring home this miracle baby and I’m holding him in their living room about to burst into tears. Y’all..he is SO cute. I’m sorry for the long post but you have to know this family’s story when you see these sweet pictures.

Without further ado we present to you Owen’s newborn session (or actually his 2 month pictures!)…

Katie & Chris’ Belle Meade Country Club Wedding

Happy Friday friends! I can’t believe we’re just sharing this gorgeous wedding! We did a little sneak peek post but haven’t done a full post yet. We had such a great time with these two and their awesome family & friends. Talk about a celebration. This wedding was full of love and lots of dancing 🙂 Just the way we like it.

Katie & Chris were so laid back and really just enjoyed their day. Their ceremony was at First Presbyterian Church and their reception was at the beautiful Belle Meade Country Club. And when we walked into the reception, we were totally speechless. It was stunning. Katie’s mom did all the flowers! We were so impressed. Seriously, their reception made us want to get married again 🙂 Their band, 14 Karat Gold, was awesome! We could barely even get on the dance floor to take pictures because it was so packed. We loved every second of it!

Here are some of our favorites:

Even though it was really cold and windy on their wedding day, Katie & Chris were troopers and we were able to get some really beautiful pictures of them. We loved that they decided to do a first look so we could utilize the beautiful daylight before their ceremony began.

Friday Favorite | Christmas party surprise

Happy Friday everyone! Whew…we’re definitely still getting back in the swing of things around here! Christmas and New Years is hard to come back from…anyone agree? We have a lot on the books and so much fun stuff to come! We’re still putting together our 2013 Favorites of the Year post so stay tuned for that. We’re still finishing up 2 weddings from last year and in a couple of weeks we’ll be celebrating our 1 year anniversary of the Leslie & Dusty Photography launch. It was such an exciting time last year as we moved from Leslie Walker Photography to Leslie & Dusty Photography so we plan on celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of that with some awesome giveaways!

Anyways… I have a group of friends that are my sisters pretty much…I’ve been friends with most of these girls since Kindergarten. We’ve known each other our entire lives and every year at Christmas we’ve had this girls Christmas party. It’s one of my most favorite traditions and I hope we continue to do it when we’re 98. 🙂 This year was extra special though because our friends Sam and Brandon got engaged! When Brandon emailed all of us with the idea that he could possibly get a flight to Atlanta and surprise Sam at our girls party…well, you would have thought we were the ones proposing. Brandon, you are a very brave man 😉 Seriously… we all went nuts and started planning the proposal for him. We knew Sam would just love it so we were so excited and honored that we got to be there for this special moment!

I’m so glad I was there to document the whole thing. Love you guys so much– congrats & we can’t wait for the big day!

Pretty sure this is Brandon telling us all to calmn down 😉 We got Sam to go out to the car to help our friend Lollie get something as we snuck Brandon in from the garage. When she walked in and saw him standing by the Christmas tree… best response ever!

Friday Favorite | Christmas tree shopping with our little guy

Happy Friday friends!! 🙂

Allow me to be that mom for a minute… our child is so stinkin cute I can’t even stand it.

My mommy heart is bursting just looking at these pictures. 🙂

We were in Atlanta for Thanksgiving and left early Sunday so we could get back with enough time to get our Christmas tree and decorate. Yay! We went straight to pick out our tree with the car still packed from Thanksgiving. Hearing Davis say ‘Christmas tree’ is so hilarious. We put the tree up and decorated during his nap. When we woke him up and showed him the tree he just laughed. He is mesmerized by the lights and loves to help us turn it on. I love making these Christmas memories with our sweet boy.
