Happy Birthday to our sweet boy!

Ohhhh man. This is going to be a happy and emotional day for this mama. Just thinking back a year ago- at this moment we were in the hospital and our family and friends were in the waiting room. At 10:18 our sweet baby boy arrived. We waited till that wonderful moment to find out if we were having a boy or girl and it was so incredible when the room shouted ‘it’s a boy!’.

Davis Charles Walker you have changed this mama in ways I never thought were possible. Birthdays are forever changed for me– now I’ll always remember the anticipation in the days before he was born, how scared but also calm I was, how sweet that moment was when he entered this world, the flood of emotions when I saw his face and they handed him to me. I can’t believe a year has gone by already! We feel so blessed to be your parents sweet boy!

A little look back…

Friday Favorite | Snow shoot attempt #2

Happy Friday everyone!!! We’re busy over here scheduling all kinds of great stuff- weddings for some really incredible couples and tons of family sessions for the Spring! SO excited about all that is to come.

We woke up last Saturday to fresh snow on the ground. It was such a fun surprise. And immediately I jump into gear and grab the camera and Dusty says ‘maybe you should feed Davis first this time’. Hah alright, fine. So, we fed the poor child and then bundled him up for our 2nd attempt at some pictures of him in the snow. He did much better this time. He just smiled at us and then looked at the ground trying to figure it all out. And then he was cold and he wasn’t very amused. Some of the faces this kid makes. He cracks me up. I know we’ll love these pictures so much later. I seriously have about 2000 pictures I want to print of this child and hang on our walls. That would be a little weird though.

A smile! :) Mommy is happy now.

His Aunt Cara gave him these boots. She’ll be very happy to see this picture.

OK so he has a ton of hats. We had a little hat fashion show. Before, we were getting pretty good smiles out of him. And then…this. Haha! Davis is not impressed.

Serioulsy mom?

I love watching him take it all in. Sweet boy.

Friday Favorite | Our mini snow shoot

Happy Friday everyone! It’s official. Our child is going to hate me. I woke up quite determined to get pictures of him in the ‘snow’. Yeah, we had about 1/8″ of snow and I immediately had to take pictures! We were literally outside for maybe 3 minutes. Sometimes you just have to call it. Even being a baby photographer can’t guarantee a perfect shoot. These baby models just don’t cooperate sometimes ;) Poor Davis haha.

We got one semi- good shot.

And then this. And it was over.

Happy Friday!

Merry Christmas from The Walkers!

Happy Friday everyone! We’re in Atlanta visiting my family for Christmas and then headed back to Nashville on Christmas Eve. We’re so excited about our little boy’s first Christmas! I know he won’t remember this and Dusty thinks I’m crazy for wrapping gifts for an 8 month old…but I don’t care. I want him to see pictures of his first Christmas and we can at least teach him how to unopen gifts. I totally understand that he’ll love the paper more than anything but I just can’t help it. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from our family to yours!

A HUGE thank you to Chris & Adrienne Scott for our family pictures. :)

Friday Favorite | Random thoughts and a BIG announcement

No. I’m not pregnant. Moving on ;)

A couple of random things on my mind today…

1. Our little boy is growing up so fast. I swear I’ll continue to say this for the rest of his life. All of you people that told me that it goes by too fast. You were right. I literally can’t keep up with all of the changes…and believe me I’m trying to. Our W The Family blog hasn’t been updated since October 9th – Davis’ 6 Month birthday.  SO much has happened since then. Maybe I’ll update this weekend…who knows! I just took his 7 month picture the other day… a mere 2 days before he turned 8 months old. And now I’m behind on the 8 month old picture. Ugh. Such is the life of a busy mom…and I’m a photographer… even I have to find the time to take pictures of my family. But Davis doesn’t slow down. He doesn’t stop growing or wait for me to find the time to document his cute chubby hands and how he sits there so sweetly sucking his thumb. All I can do is the best that I can do today. Some days I’m a perfect mom but a not so perfect wife, friend and business owner. Other days I have dinner ready, the house cleaned, spend quality time with my hubby, the business is booming and Davis is in the corner eating one of Bean’s bones off the floor. It is what it is. We can’t do it all and I am SO OK with that. I hope you are too :)

Some favorite recent pictures…

2. I am SO excited about Davis’ first Christmas. I know he won’t remember this but we’re still making it special. :) It just warms up this house even more having him here to experience Christmas. I love getting him out of his crib in the morning and watching his eyes light up when we turn on the tree. :) Sweet baby boy you’re going to love Christmas just like your parents. And we can’t wait to teach you all about it!

3. BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TIME…. And this is such a tease but I just can’t wait to share the news. You know that curly-headed guy I call my husband? WELL he’s been shooting with me for a while now and we thought it was time we make it official. In January we will be retiring Leslie Walker Photography and launching as LESLIE & DUSTY PHOTOGRAPHY! We are SO excited to share all of the hard work we’ve put into this new business. You’re going to love it!

4. I hate ending on a sad note…but I also didn’t want to start the blog post on a sad note. I am sitting here just sick to my stomach over the senseless school shooting in Connecticut. I just can’t imagine what those families are going through. It’s unfathomable. I just lift them up in prayer. Something like this should never be a worry to parents when they send their children to school. :( God bless that town.
